Element's Decay: A Dark Wizard's Siege
This project is a submission to the PirateSoftware Gamejam 2024
Welcome to Element's Decay: A Dark Wizard's Siege! A game where you play as a shadow wizard who has come to this temple to corrupt it with shadow, little do you know many challenges await you.
This is the teams first game jam I hope you enjoy! Besides Sound FX's, all assets and soundtracks were made in-house in the game jam's time frame window. We own a commercial licence for all sounds used in this game.
Game Design Document : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Jqp1UhmS0-rVO4q2yN6K9TzDHm-llPvH/view
Controls:
Keyboard ONLY (sorry no controller support)
WASD – for movement
F – to swap spells
TAB – for pause menu since ESC is normally the browsers release mouse key
Left click and right click – for spell casting
R – to reset certain levels if the player feels they need to reset everything
E – for interactions
Camera movement troubleshooting:
- Set mouse polling rate to 125hz
- Lower Mouse DPI
Known Issues:
- Old Firefox versions may not run and or not display pause menu text. FIX is to update to newest version
- Any GPU in the rx 750 era may struggle
- PC's without dedicated graphics WILL NOT RUN THIS GAME (sorry)
- Windows 11 machines may encounter previously mentioned camera movement BUG
- "Exit Game" button will freeze game in browser just refresh page this button is intended for desktop/editor versions
- Moving + looking at the ground and or moving the camera while looking down may cause a slight stutter/small teleport, seems to be a browser issue not a game issue R.I.P (seems to only happen in the air level)

Seems like a really cool game! I loved the feeling I got when entering a new area and looking around. The feelings of isolation while exploring massive, wondrous, and magical places was awesome.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to figure out how to beat the air world. I gave it a lot of goes and was able to extinguish 2 beacons, but after dying like 20 times trying to jump to different places and taking a long time looking down around the edges of the walkable area, I eventually gave up. It made me sad because I wanted to experience more cool and wondrous places you guys had created.
Good luck with the jam! I enjoyed what I was able to experience in it.
yeah sorry about that.. I did add some rocks from the inital design to make it easier once you where on the right path but we did redesign the air map and a sacrifice was clearness in path.... after the jam I'M FIXING THIS LEVEL ASAP. Thanks for the review and playing the game!!!
I completed it and here are a few of my gripes on it
1 my camera kept drifting to the right at different speeds which made it a little bothersome to play and make the platforming harder
2 You dont really have a good idea as to what slopes you are able to stand on and on which ones you just slide off
3 adding a timer to a level (wind) where you already have to figure out on where you're able/ have to go kinda bothers me, either make it clear or just not have the timer and make the way you have to figure it out a puzzle, both just kinda feels like too much
4 in level (earth) i don't know what the activated state looks like of the totem, it either glitched out or isn't that noticable
the review: i did enjoy the platforming pushing past the constant camera rotation, the small levels were a fun little experience and for some i kinda wished there was more. but time and stuff so i get it
im not a huge fan of the wind temple though the ability does help allot and the fire temple was just fun. specially when i got the hang of timing the blades
ps: (i don't really understand why you have to have completed the wind temple before going to the earth temple, since i did the water temple first and that was the only ability i needed there.)
also, nice option menu ;3
#1 are you on windows 11? because that is part of the known issues section otherwise weird, if we continue dev we will 100% look into this.
#2 yeahhhh..... wasn't MY design but i did at the rocks at the bottom to make it 100x easier walking up that slope without them is a 0/10
#3 there was a redesign of the air level and a sacrifice of that was the clear path...
#4 the Beacon SHOULD have glowed blue kinda like the ones in the air and water levels minus the "shields"
also the main design was any room can be done first but that didn't feel fun since we couldn't add more content so we made the choice wind and water should be done before earth and 1000% before the sun/fire level.
Thanks for pushing through and playing and leaving a review! the fire/sun level with the blades is by far our most fun level in my opinion.
I really enjoyed the options menus
I'm glad lol
I really enjoyed the puzzles! Especially in the sun level!
Glad you enjoyed!!
